Fall 2021 - Letter from the Director

Authored by

It has been an eventful start to the fall 2021 semester! Our students are adjusting to in-person classes at ACHS, teachers are working diligently to develop their DE courses for on-campus instruction, and families and loved ones continue to navigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These changes present challenges, but our Academy community’s resilience and care for one another impresses me each day.

As we continue moving through the 2021-22 school year, we have a lot of exciting updates to share with you all. This issue has information on the guaranteed admissions pathways to the George Washington University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences for the Class of 2022. Read on for additional information on these opportunities and new programmatic offerings for 2023.

This issue also contains an update on the Community Medi-Corps Program. The Medi-Corps team reports that the Immersive Learning Center is slated to come to our campuses in the spring 2022 semester.

In addition to those exciting updates, we also have some sad news to share. Micki Coffman has left ACPS for a new professional opportunity. Micki has been a champion of the Academy and a strong advocate for our students and families over the past four years and, on a personal note, a close friend and mentor as I moved into my role as Academy director.

Micki will be missed, but she has left an indelible legacy. We certainly hope she stays in touch!
